The Indian Government terms Formula One as entertainment and not as a sport. A payment of 3.6 million had to be paid to governing body of the sport this January. However the Indian government terms F1 as an entertainment and not as a sport. The Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports claims that the money could be spent on other sports which could be of more relevance to general population. The land has already been acquired near Noida for the construction of the race track. JPSK sports (the body representing Formula One in India) has no intentions of spending on any other sport other than Formula One. Sport or not, F1 will always have its faithful followers! Hope the government understands that sooner than later…
