BMW-4-Series-Convertible-Launch

We reported when the new BMW 4 Series was previewed at the North American Motor Show recently. The new 4 series Coupe/Cabriolet will replace the 3 Series Coupe/Cabriolet variants and will become a part of BMW’s strategy to plug in the gaps between its line up of cars by offering more by the way of additional features at a higher price tag.

The new nomenclature for BMW cars is such that the sedans get odd series numbers and the 2 door and 4 door coupes get even series numbers. BMW intends to launch the new 4 series coupe and convertible along with the M version of the 6 Series Gran Coupe in 2013. It is being said that BMW might also come up with a 4 Series Gran Coupe to spoil the car buying lot silly with options.

What we have here might be the first image of undisguised BMW 4 Series convertible along with the production date and details of various engine options that the 4 Series of cars will get.

As has been expected, BMW will launch the 4 Series Coupe first and the Convertible will be launched some months later.

The BMW 4 Series will be sold with following powerplants:

Power to 428i and 428xi (the all-wheel drive variant) will come from a 2.0-liter turbo petrol inline four cylinder engine with a peak power output of 240bhp

Power to 435i and 435xi will come from a 3.0-liter turbo petrol inline-six with a peak power output of 300hp

The BMW 4 Series Convertible will get rear wheel drive layout only.

Don’t be surprised if BMW also launches a 220hp, 2.0 litre diesel engine variant of the new Coupe and Convertible.

While the production of BMW 4 Series coupe (codename: F32) will begin at BMW’s Munich facility in July this year, the Convertible (codename: F33) will go into production in November at BMW’s Regensburg facility.

The BMW 4 Series Convertible might be previewed at the 2013 Frankfurt Motorshow in September.
