Bajaj Pulsar and Platina become costlier by 1%

In a rather funny development, Indian bike maker Bajaj recently hiked the prices of popular Pulsar series and commuter Platina by 1%. The funny part here is that the price hike comes soon after the manufacturer had introduced a new variant (4G) of Discover 100 motorcycle at a very competitive price to try to aggressively eat into the sales of other commuter bikes. It may be noted that Hero MotoCorp had announced the price hike just a few days ago and in both of these cars, rising input cost has been cited as the reason. A reason that rest of the brands from Bajaj have been spared a price rise and only these two brands have been affected is that both Platina and Pulsar are the leading names in their respective segment and a marginal price increase won’t have a detrimental effect on the sales of the two bikes.
