Honda to stop motorcycle production in Spain News | | October 22, 2009 at 11:41 am

Lately there have been reports about the global financial downturn finally dying out. News reports are continually emerging about how economies the world over are on an upswing and conditions are only set to improve. Well, Honda seems to believe otherwise.

The Japanese automotive marquee is planning to stop its motorcycle production in Spain. According to Honda the rationale behind this decision is the lack of demand for new motorcycles. Its existing factory located in Santa Perpetua will be involved in manufacturing injected plastic panels and various other ancillary units for the time being.

Honda also intends to reduce its workforce at the Spanish factory to just 180 workers from the current total of 340.  The company plans to utilize its factory in Italy to fill any miniscule production void that might emerge owing to its decision.
