The Mahindra Verito based hatchback has been making news since quite some time now. The hatchback version of the Mahindra Verito entry level sedan will battle it out against the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Chevrolet Sail and the Hyundai i20. In the latest development regarding the upcoming hatchback, it has emerged that the car would be named as the Verito Vibe. It may be noted that Mahindra makes it a point to name all its cars & bikes in a way that they end with an ‘o’. (Scorpio, Xylo, Verito, XUV5OO, Pantero, Centuro, Duro, Rodeo and Mojo. Get an idea?)

The upcoming hatchback will be launched next month and is most likely to be promoted as all new car and not as a variant of the Verito. The Verito hatchback is expected to be priced in the vicinity of INR 5.5-6 lakhs. Verito Vibe will be powered by the 1.5 litre Renault K9K diesel engine that powers many small cars in India. Thanks to an overall length of less than 4 meters, the Verito Vibe will benefit from excise duty relaxations by Govt of India. This would enable the car maker to price the new offering more competitively.

Unlike the Swift and the Brio, which later spawned a sedan sibling, Verito Vibe comes to us years after the Verito sedan was first launched (as Logan) in India. Unlike the Verito, which is basically the last generation Logan and comes from Dacia, the upcoming Verito Vibe is developed, designed and planned by the boffins at Mahindra and Mahindra.
