The Mercedes CLA Class has been making news ever since it emerged that the popular German automaker plans to launch a new entry level sedan that will positioned below the C Class. We have been reporting in detail about the new CLA Class sedan and now it has emerged that the bookings for the new car have commenced in UK.
Powering the petrol variant of the Mercedes CLA sedan is a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that has a max power output of 120 bhp and a peak torque figure of 200 Nm. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.3 seconds. The diesel variant is powered by a 2.1-litre oil burner that has a max. power figure of 167 bhp and a max. torque rating of 350 Nm. The diesel variant is capable of reaching 100kmph in 8.2 seconds. The fuel efficiency of the petrol engine is rated at 11.1 kmpl, with carbon dioxide emissions rated at 130g per kilometer. The oil burner has a FE figure of 13.83 kmpl and carbon dioxide emissions of 117g/km.
The CLA’s entry level variant, which is christened as ‘Sport’, will come with dual zone climate control, 18” alloy wheels, rain sensing wipers and the standard safety package. The flagship variant, which has been named as the ‘AMG Sport’, also gets AMG rims, exterior styling package, sports steering and seats and bi-xenon headlamps.
The starting price of the Mercedes CLA in UK car market is €24,355 (approx INR 17.09 lakhs). The top end variant has a sticker price of €31,555 (approx INR 22.15 lakhs).
