Nissan to launch premium car brand Infiniti in India
Datsun is not all that popular car maker Nissan plans to bring to India. While on one end, Nissan will launch budget end vehicles with the Datsun brand name, the car maker will take care of the fast growing premium segment by launching the Infiniti cars in India. Infiniti is to Nissan what Lexus is to Toyota. It may be noted that cheapest Nissan on sale in India is the Micra hatchback and as we have seen, car buying lot in developing markets does not really associate a manufacturer selling small cars with luxury products. This all means that Nissan’s plan of coming up with premium cars that belong to a different brand makes considerable sense.
