Scoop! Toyota Etios Sedan caught testing
Scoop! Toyota Etios Sedan caught testing News, Slider | Amit Chhangani | July 29, 2010 at 2:32 amOne of our readers, Prateek Kanade has caught the Toyota Etios sedan on test. Unfortunately Prateek has been able to take pictures of only the rear end of the car.
On the road, the car doesn’t really look very elegant or stylish, but knowing the segment it’s going to reside in, we are pretty sure looks won’t make all that big difference if the car is good (Dzire sells like hotcakes, remember?). There isn’t much to comment on the car, except for showing you the pictures, however, just to refresh your memory about what this new car from Toyota offers in terms of engines, here’s a quick spec check.
As told by Toyota to the media at the Auto Expo 2010, the Etios will be available in hatckback and sedan variants. While the hatchback will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol variant, the sedan caught on test will be propelled by a 1.5-litre petrol unit. The power and torque specs for the two engines are not available yet.
Toyota has also launched the diesel variant of the Altis recently. While a small 1.4-litre diesel doesn’t suit a big car like the Corolla, it will make perfect sense for a smaller car like the Altis. We have reasons to believe that the diesel engine may make it under the hood of the Etios sedan at a later point in time.
Here is a comparison of the size of the Etios against one of the most spacious cars in its segment – the Logan
Etios Length 4265mm Height 1490mm Width 1695mm
Logan Length 4250mm Height 1525mm Width 1735mm
The Etios is longer than the logan by 15mm, but the Logan is 35mm taller and 40mm wider than the Etios.
