Yamaha SS125 launched – 2nd of the three new Yamaha vehicles coming before October 2010
Yamaha SS125 launched – 2nd of the three new Yamaha vehicles coming before October 2010 News, Slider | Rash a.k.a Rohit Paradkar | July 29, 2010 at 5:14 amWe told you a few days back that Yamaha is readying three new vehicles to be launched before October 2010. The first of them is the SZ 150, which is scheduled for a 5th August launch. We were told that the SZ150 and the Fazer 250 are coming for sure, but our sources were not sure what the third bike was and speculated that it could be a 135cc step-thru that Yamaha was collecting customer feedback for. However, it seems that the step-thru has been put on the backburner for now. The bike is actually the one that has raised its head as a ‘new model’ called the ‘SS125′. It is a 125cc motorcycle that has mysteriously made its way onto the Yamaha India website. Whats even more mysterious is that it looks exactly similar to a certain bike called the ‘Gladiator 125′. Now we are sure you don’t remember that bike, so let us remind you – it was the same 125cc model which, inspite of many cosmetic upgrades, never attracted your attention when you went to the Yamaha showroom to repeatedly drool on the R1, R15 and the FZ.
So this time around Yamaha has thought of giving it a new name – the SS125 and are making it stand alongside the Gladiator in the showrooms and on the website as if the SS125 were the Gladiator’s angelic twin! C’mon Yamaha, we know you desperately want a scoop from Hero Honda’s market share, but that doesn’t mean you start acting like them and start giving your bikes new names and colours and claiming they are new vehicles altogether!
As for the Fazer 250, there is a small update. We are told that Yamaha is planning an event similar to the ‘India Bike Rally (IBR)’ that they organised last year. This event is expected to go on for three weeks and will conclude with the launch of the Fazer 250. Sounds like a great idea to us – now thats the kind of stuff we expect from you Yam!

Guess theres no difference at all at least i cant see it…..but the seat colour is different in the SS125 and i some how think the SS has tubeless tyres
Ohhh wait also the rear fender of the SS125…its kind of shorter than the Gladiator!!!
And the engine…it looks a little bigger than the glad!!!
this is just bullshit, its the same failed gladiater with new grafix and new name. but still sucks, dono why yamaha re-re-relaunches bikes like alba and gladiator
can you confirm the launch date of yamaha SZ 150??
wana buy it asap
What do you mean spot the difference? The Gladiator and the SS 125 as seen in the photos above are two completely different bikes with NOTHING in common. Now please give me that dunce cap so I can wear it. Incidentally Yamaha must be having the highest number of non selling models. The Crux, G5, Alba, YBR 110, Gladiator, SS 125 …..
I want better styling for fazer 250………..
i think the length of the bike has been increased……….
i mean the dimention ( Overall length x width x height 1995 x 730 x 1110 mm)
The Tachometer will be difference as per article presented. I will visit showroom and re-confirm the same. Also I have to see how the Gear Shift lever , The vehicle Airfilter should be different , Vehicle may use Different battery.
That is my info.
Shame for Yamaha in India , When they sell RX100 they told vehicle will Full chain cover will helps more durablity of Chain life for Indian Muddy environments.
But now without Chain cover they just bluffs up ,When you notice vehcile Grinding noise you will feel abnormal and you will give for service where in they will give good wash of the vehicle for Rs.250 instead you can wash done for Rs.30 to 50. With Chain Cleaning.
@RAjan : I know glady is very noisy … i think Yamaha should do something to cover up the chain and reduce noise
I got a one damn SS100, mistakenly in July…and lo! my woes started. The battery gave me a hard time after a month and the service is worst with Ganesh Motors, L.B. Nagar. Nothing works with this shitty bike. It does not cross 80kmph; does not give a moderate 45kmpl; the battery does not work; self start is a big joke. All this bike has is looks(?). I sincerely advice folks NOT TO BUY YAMAHA….its YAMA in troubling you. All damn false promises from the sellers. Dont fall prey to YAMA ha! Its not even three months and I have visited the showroom’s service centre for more than half a dozen times.

Moses.. U surely don’t own a SS125.. No one buys a bike “mistakenly” in the first place.. Secondly I own the 2006 version of d Yamaha Gladiator.. N I m a proud owner.. It reaches 80kmph without any fuss and has attained a max speed of 100kmph.. So considering that the SS125 is a better version, it should have even better performance.. A decent average mileage of 50-55kmpl and no major mantainence problem.. Plus I had one minor and one 70kph crashe.. And hell; the bike still rides with a broken front fender, broken front brake lever, scratched headlamps and broken tail lamps.. No damage to the chasis except a bent leg-guard.. And you question Yamaha’s age old reliability..?? Sure few of the dealers are DUMB n cheaters.. But u can easily service the bike from a known mechanic.. Only u have to go to the dealers for OEM parts..
Yamaha ss125 is very nice bike… I’m getting millege around 56-60 KMPL… But I’m planing sell my bike which is recently purchased…
SS125
is the successor to Yamaha Gladiator Type SS, and Yamaha completely dropped the Gladiator name now. Through the years Gladiator has been re-designed and refined 4 times. And SS125 is the latest version, with the best design and graphics and the best handling. The SS125 and Gladiator Type SS have all similar specifications(Physical, Electrical and Mechanical) except the colors and graphics.
