Yamaha SZ to be launched in second half of 2010!

It hasn’t been much time since the Japanese bike maker launched the 106cc commuter called Yamaha YBR 110 in the Indian market. Yamaha India has reported the launch of its very much awaited SZ which is scheduled to take place somewhere in the second half of 2010.

The bike is expected to run on a 123.7cc air-cooled, 4-stroke SOHC engine which will have the ability to churn out 11 bhp @ 7500 rpm and a maximum torque output of 10.4 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The bike is expected to return a fuel efficiency figure of about 65 kmpl in normal city conditions. We expect the bike to hit the streets with an approximate price tag of Rs. 50,000 to Rs.55,000. The actual specs may vary a bit to the specs mentioned above.

This news was supported by our sources close to Yamaha who mentioned that Pankaj Dubey who is the national business head of Yamaha India confirmed the launch of Yamaha SZ. It is quite evident by the Yamaha’s move of introducing a 106cc commuter that the firm is trying to explore the commuter segment in India. Our sources also confirmed that Dubey hinted about a 250cc launch but did not reveal any confirmed news of the same.

The current lineup will be left unaffected by the launch of the SZ i.e. none of the models including Alba or G5 will be phased off. Apart from the launch, the firm is also working on the expansion of its network of dealerships across the country.
