GT2 Hyosung GT250R launched in Delhi for INR 2.75 lakhs

DSK partners with Korean bike manufacturer Hyosung in its Indian operations and takes care of the sales and services. The very new Hyosung-DSK alliance sells the Hyosung GT650R, the GT650N (naked) and the ST7 Cruiser in Indian market. Worth mentioning here is that all these bikes retail for more than INR 4 lakh and hence, the manufacturer caters to a minimal section of Indian bikers. Hyosung DSK had recently introduced the GT250R to India. This bike can sure be a lethal threat to the much publicized japs and the GT250R plays a perfect younger sibling to the GT650R.

Hyosung DSK have now launched the GT250R for Rs. 2.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). While the pricing may sound optimistic to many (including us), Hyosung DSK doesn’t think so. The company expects to sell the bike in good numbers and is projecting a sales figure of around 3000 units for the first year. The bike is available in India in three two-tone colors – Silver + red, Black + red and white + red. The company is claiming an official top speed of 140km/h.

With peak power of around 28PS @ 10,000 rpm and peak torque rated at 22 Nm at 8000 rpm, the Hyosung may look more powerful than the cheaper CBR250R, but the difference may not be enough in the real world for Rs 1 lakh premium. The pricing, however, is expected to go down as DSK is planning to localize the production to a large extent in the next one and a half years. It would be an uphill task for the bike though, to sell in good numbers with that sort of pricing though.
