With a body kit reminiscent of the Nova and a 125cc heart sourced from the Sym, the Mahindra Duro seems to be a worthy claimant to the best VFM tag in its category

Hi buddies, I am the new Mahindra Duro.

I am one of the 125cc power scooters that have been launched by Mahindra two-wheelers. You must be wondering why the guys at Motoroids2 have allowed me to speak? Well, the editorial team of this e-mag is pretty chilled out and they have given me a chance to introduce myself rather than following the conventional pattern of asking someone else to do it.

As you people would be aware, my parent company created me and introduced me onto the scene a few weeks back. Whenever a new two-wheeler is launched, a select few journalists get invited to test them. Once done with the testing, the journos write a review of us two-wheelers for their respective magazines. Like my other siblings, even I was lying in a vacant corner of the factory and waiting for some journalist to ride me. The day I was born, the product engineer took me out for a spin around the block and I enjoyed the experience thoroughly.

Hi All,
I bought a Mahindra Duro in October 2009.
I have run 9000 kms. My verdict is….
Good features
1. Fuel Tank 6 lts
2. Space below seat
3. Leg Space
4. Front Boot space
5. Pickup
Bad Features
1. Just loves speed breakers. Does not leave any speed breaker untouched
2. Parts quality very bad. Seat has already taken bucket shape. Center stand vibrates causing lot of vibrating noice.
3. Breaks need very frequent re-fit
4. Service quality is pathetic and worst
5. Mileage has never crossed 40 even after service center claiming to have tuned it
6. Faulty fuel guage reading
7. The acclerator handle comes off the scooter
8. I am now experiencing drop in pickup and speed i.e. response to acceleration
9. After 40 kms speed the scooter gives a strange engine noice of woowing
10. I am also experiencing wobling, to which service center says fork is loose. I wonder if they have fixed it.
At current levels of service, please dont buy one. If your service center is Mahaveer Mortors in Bangalore, never ever buy it.
Thanks for your inputs Devadas…
Why don’t you also start a topic on the Motoroids forums and discuss the Duro further? I’m sure a lot prospective buyers might benefit from your inputs, not just today but on a long term basis as well…
How abt the Mahindra Rodeo …any idea?
