Niranjan Skoda, on of the readers of Motoroids has managed to take the pictures of the upcoming KTM Bajaj 200 Duke. These are the clearest pictures yet of the bike and reveal a lot of things which were not known about this machine. Here are some of the spy shots.

I wonder how does the photographer know that it's the 200cc ver. Could it be the 125 Duke?

I mean, how would anyone know the difference?

Seems a perfectly reasonable idea to leave a 125 Duke unattended to build up excitement online and hamper another company's prospective quarter-litre bookings.

ha ha ha ha ha test bike left unattended..... are they out of their heads... its all about creating a hype . they have only released the pictures so that people stay glued to it and keep expecting about its launch date.... Anyways .. specs sheet and performance figures will be welcomed more than this kind of pics.

Capture a close up picture of the block... it usually has the reading etched on it

With bajaj, the beauty is that they have a sticker stuck on the swingarm that mentions what the bike means but in easy to guess code form

We saw a 220S4VFSC in pune... (220S version - 4 Valved head) a while back .. it had a weird Carb setup!) FSC - Flat Side carb may be.. but no clue on the bike yet

Some times I think this was not even in Bangalore. Anyways looks good! hope it comes, this baby duke sure has all of my attention!

More new filtering in on the KTM 200

• Power to be almost as much as the CBR250R
• Mid-range torque and in-gear acceleration of the bike to be the USPs instead of outright high-rev performance
• Pricing to be 'premium'

well that engine is considerably large.. i haven seen a 125 anywhere close to it.. so we can say its a 200cc..

and about the power, well it can produce 24 horses but those horses will definitely come at peak rpm i.e. somethin close to 10k which isn anythin in the acceleration department and the torque if i anit wrong cant go beyond 20NM so even there its not all fireworks.. the only advantage it could have is the light weight.. which could make the thin a tidy bit on the quicker side and that's about it unless it is an under square engine which would be stupidity in this case..

and if its priced higher then cbr then the takers will be very less..
cbr has many advantages over it, and all are the most important things an Indian would consider..
i.e. more cc's, more power and torque, more mileage, full fairin(donno why but people love it like hell), more mileage(although stupidity this segment but does have some effect on sales),lesser price, last and most important brand.. people will close their eyes anyday if its coming from honda whereas people will feel that duke is coming from bajaj.. a teenager would anyday go for such a bike and his dad will sign the check and every Indian dad would see all this, hell even my dad would consider most of these..
so if bajaj wants to get it right with this baby well it better do so with aggressive pricing but i don't think that's going to be the case..
