Hello NikhilB
See you are right that price range of this cars is very high but here in India many people are taking interest in Jaguar and other expensive brands like Ferrari that's way cars like jaguar XF, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and many other cars are ready to launch in India.

@abhishek63

I'm not denying the interest in JLR brands.

All I meant was that (in my point of view) it is an opportunity lost for the Evoque. JLR could have taken the risk and started assembimg it here from Day 1. Instead of waiting for the demand to show its face.
The Evoque will now be perceived as a costlier option to the Q3 (when it comes) and X1.
And you could have prospective owners shelling a bit more and going for the X3 or the Q5 as "size does matter" for Indian SUV buyers.

Food for Thought: How would current buyers of the Evoque feel if JLR begins assembling it a year form now and drops the price by 5-10L? Ask a (more-than 3 months old) Jazz owner how he feels about Honda dropping the price of the Jazz by 1.5L
I like 'em Naked.

My thoughts

You're mistaking the target market here. The target market makes steeply more money then next lower percentile. 5-10 lac is but few days or few weeks at most income for them, 50k is more meaningful in terms % change in price to most of us readers than 10 lac is to them.

Although your point is valid to most of extent but I have seen people who have worked hard for years and then git themselves a 5 series..
But if that same person was said that his ride is cheaper by 10lac then wouldn't he feel bad..?? Imagine ourselves only bro.. If we strive for years and the same thing happens to us..
It definitely won't matter for someone who is looking out for a Merc AMG or sports car but the segment in which this car lies it would matter to many..

Sort of agree with Rahul's reply...
Considering how value conscious we are (irrespective of our income level)...
I like 'em Naked.

Andy,
How does it compare (in size, presence) to the X1, X3 and Q5?

I take back my earlier opinion (and admit my mistake)...

Checked the specs of the India-bound Evoque. It is as big as the X3/Q5.
And it is priced in-line with those models.
Nothing short of impressive, considering that they are importing it as a CBU.

It would have the Germans peeing in their pants if it was assembled here and priced about 10% lower.
I like 'em Naked.

saw the evoque review on top gear, even though those guys are biased towards Brit products but still that did impress me..
Its an gorgeous car, which really should have been at least assembled here.. None the less if i wanted to go for a big SUV i would definitely go for this one over the Germans..

Range rover just unveiled their new evoque convertible and damn it looks sexy..

Land Rover will reveal a shock Range Rover Evoque Convertible concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 next month – and if public reaction is positive, it could be given the go ahead for series production.
The new soft-top Range Rover Evoque is a genuine surprise and is being labelled a concept by Land Rover because it wants to see if there is a market for such a car.
Land Rover is billing the new Range Rover Evoque Convertible as the world’s first premium convertible SUV. If it does reach production, it will once again break new ground in the SUV sector and outsmart rivals.
The new machine looks radically different to the current Range Rover Evoque Coupe and five-door range, boasting a completely open cabin uncluttered by roll bars with the roof down (automatic pop-up safety bars provide protection during rollover incidents).
The exposed interior, combined with the high seating position of the Range Rover Evoque, will give a truly unique vantage point for occupants, and it is this added appeal that Land Rover hopes will appeal to buyers.
It also makes the Range Rover Evoque even more distinctive-looking, particularly as Land Rover has cleverly integrated twin buttresses into the tonneau cover for the roof.
The folding roof is a soft top rather than a bulkier, heavier hard top. This has allowed Gerry McGovern to retain most of the distinctive lines of the standard Evoque, simply reinterpreting them for the new open-top lines.
Prices are a long way from being confirmed, but they will probably be around 15 per cent higher than the standard model, giving an entry level price of around £31,000 – but maybe much more if Land Rover decides to restrict model choice to more expensive engines and trims.
A decision on whether it will make production will not be made until after the Geneva Motor Show. For now, it’s entirely over to the public to have their say. What do you think, then – should Land Rover build the new Range Rover Evoque Convertible?

So Nikhil when you getting one..?? :P
