Malshej is great fun, but there is little chance of going flat out on the curves, simply because the road is not dual carriageway. Malshej also tend to attract the crap of the earth on Sundays, you know, the beer guzzling dancing in the road clad in jangs type. Considering it's Sunday (Lonavla - avoid), for Pune Guys, perhaps Kambhatki ghat would be a much better place to practise corner carving, as it is a dual carriageway. Also, I'd gone to Murbad via Asangaon and the road was not in particularly great shape, even before the monsoon, dunno recent status.

Not that you wouldn't have a fun ride with the route shown, but our Kasara ride was a VERY focussed one! No scenery, no picnic, just streak over the curves, again, and again and again until the craving to rid the tyre of chicken strips was satisfied.

Doc the 24th comes on a saturday.
And yes, Malshej is a Scum-Magnate especially on Monsoon Sundays. Which is why Saturday.
Also i intend to do the ride more than snapography. probably a few snaps of the cornering, for the cornering, by the cornering. And this is a hopefully fixed plan. if anybody has any more suggestions, please do let it be known.

As far as khambatki is concerned, a few certain patches have gone bad, read as tar coming up in waves due to the immense weight of trucks, and heat, creating major peaks and valleys in the carriageway. also the truck traffic seems to own the land there. they are as bad as the malshej rowdy-crowdy.

oops my bad!

I did not realize that Khambatki was in such bad shape. This road (NH3) is also an arterial truck road but Gammon India have built an excellent surface, which have survived the monsoon with barely a pothole.

Dont feel bad my Doc. There are only a few such patches. but the major deterrent is the Truck traffic which plies between Pune and Kolhapur / Bangalore that use the road as if it was gifted to them as dowry... ;)

Passed Khambatki a few days back. Being in a BMW (530d), couldn't quite figure the imperfections too well though :P
