You thinking the roads were an inconvenience Satyenbhai
Well it went on like this:
1) We had to leave at 9 in the night, we were still at Panvel till 1. I lost my spare mobile.
2) All the guys had come after a hard day's work- as they had to take leave for Friday- means slightly more work.
3) Alkesh overshot the Sankeswar diversion and we had to wait for him to come back.
4) Glen dashed a local guy on a bicycle that raised a storm- we got away with 200 bucks, but the ZMA came out with a broken fairing, bend handlebar, smashed mirrors etc. Not to mention Glen suffered an injured knee and a painful wrist which couldn't even pull the clutch lever.
5) No mechanics or even the ASC were prepared to repair the bike. Glen and Revel stayed back at Gokak to rest and fix the bike.
6) We went ahead enjoying the roads till Gokak and later it was 60 kms of pure torturous roads.
7) Next morning we had planned to start site seeing at 7...the maharajas got up at 11.30. The site see started at 2 pm.
8) When Glen arrived- there were no extra beds available at the hotel- we managed with sofa cushions.
9) By evening we had only finished seeing Badami caves and Bhootnath temple that too only from a distance.
10) Saturday was our departure date- but we went to site see i.e. Pattadakal and Aihole. Again we had planned 7 am, but from nowhere the rains came and they poured like there was no tomorrow. Half the day was lost.
11) One P220s mudguard came off, another started wobbling, another started having gearshifting issues. Fixed that. The Hunk's speedo gave way and in the meantime Glen's bike was fixed. Locating a new handlebar and mirrors took time- but finally found it.
12) By the time everything was done- it was 8 in the evening.
13) Tired after the day's site see, we started back to Mumbai on one gentleman's suggestion of a different route i.e. via Bagalkot. He had come from the same route.
14) We missed a diversion and went ahead, later to come back. Completely dark, forest type roads....luckily we spotted a tractor and asked the driver the way.
15) Again confusion- though we were on the right track, but it was some internal road and I started getting a creepy instinct that something is not right. I stopped and luckily saw a motorcyclist who suggested us that we take the longer route which was much safer.
16) We hit the highway towards Belgaum and the signboards showed Belgaum with a straight arrow. We carried on only to find that there was a left diversion from Lokapur some 22 kms back.
17) We hadn't refuelled, and 2 bikes came on reserve. No one had enough fuel- Belgaum was more than 100 kms away and no bike could carry on for sure.
18) We touched a petrol pump- but the attendants were so badly asleep that they couldn't even get up despite shaking up them so violently.
19) We were riding under 60 kph to save fuel. We hit another petrol pump and fortunately I managed to wake the guys up- though it took them some 10 mins to realise what was going on.
20) My headlight had stopped working- some issue with the switch. I rode in dark from Khopoli- went to the dhaba where I had forgotten my mobile only to not find it.
