Hi,

I fiiled up my Honda CB Twister  with Rs. 700/- worth unleaded petrol(Rate Rs. 73.35/- per ltr) at a Shell fuel pump at around 2000 hrs today.

But as per the the manual, the bike can hold only 8ltrs(inclusive of reserve capacity) and there are no leaks in the tank.

Can somebody please explain this paradox?

Prashanth

Try draining it and measure it.
If it was any other pump than shell, I would have blamed it on the petrol bunk.

The Unicorn Tank Capacity as per Manual is 13Ltrs, but my tank can hold upto 16Ltrs. the thing is the Capacity is declared upto the Tank Inlet, which is below the Tank top. If you allow the Air trapped inside to Escape, then the Extra Petrol can go in. For Long Rides (and even for Everyday usage) i usually fill it to the Brim. So i dont have to visit the Petrol Bunk too often.
And if you fear Leakage, please dont... The Seals on the Petrol Locks are pretty Reliable. Unless there is any Visible Trace of Petrol on the Underbody of the Tank.

Pulsars ( Classic and DTSi with spoked wheels) can take 18 ltrs while the manual says 15 ltrs !
