Honda workshops now have a kit to replace poorly plated/painted blts, grab rails and mirrors for the first batch of CBR250s. Almost all the footrest bolts, the rear grab rails etc are replaced while the bike is being serviced/taken care of, and it takes about  half an hour extra.  It appears that any part with plating painting defects will be replaced FOC.

That included my rusting headlamp stay as well as one of the mirrors. BTW, the new mirrors are angled differently (slightly lower) and have a better field of vision. This is not a "recall" as such, because none of the parts have critical defects in any way. Early model CBR owners need request that the replacement kit be fitted and it will be done, when they go there for their regular work.

The CBRs sold recently do not have these problems with the paint, hence they will not get these replacements unless they can show some paint defect

Shall I merge this with the ownership experience thread?

Actually, I was thinking of posting there, but this seemed to be something that others need to know about (applicable to all the CBRs sold in the first batch). It would have got lost in that thread - this has a self explanatory title which will make it easier to find if somebody is so inclined.

For example, try finding something specific in the xbhp CBR ownership thread - next to impossible unless you had memorized the page :P

just for cbr..?? :( man my entire bike looks new but due to the paint worn off from the clutch and front brake lever that's making it look half a decade old.. even my bike was of the first batch probably..

Yours wasnt a premium bike, and no one complained... so you can rest your assurance on the trademark "Honda reliability"

Well, Off-raoding from the Topic Being Disscussed here. Even Honda Unicorn Parts are being Delayed. I went to get a Replacement for my Broken Clutch Lever Yoke, and Left hand Mirror. They Said Parts are not available for more 10-15 days, because the shipment has been held up (Somewhere). And that being a friday, most auto spare parts shops in and around Mumbai were closed (Saab, Friday sab bandh rehta hai). So i rode to Pune, half-rear-blind.
Did not get time to check out the availability of parts in Pune.. But in the Mumbai Showroom (Pilot Honda, Chembur, near Shivaji Statue), there were quite a few Honda CBR's too that looked like they had been Opened up, and seen quite a few days like that.

Fairly pointless contacting them anyways, you'd have got a reply thanking you for sharing your concern (no mention of what that concern may be) and that it will be looked into shortly (no timeline, need I add).

Doc hope the new batches come without all these issues. I somehow didn't like the black coating on the engine peel off on Parimal's bike when he had come on the first ride. There used to be a big cry on the Pulsar losing the black coating- the same wasn't expected on a Honda when the bike was so new.
