A higher top end means even a higher cruising speed....right no?

Having ridden the Duke, don't you think it can maintain a cruising speed of say 120kmph (keeping in mind that it tops out at 130+)?
It would probably be doing it at a higher rpm than (say the CBR :behindsofa: ), but should be able to do it comfortably nontheless.
I like 'em Naked.

My thoughts

After some time the rider will not be comfortable. Either bike.

We had a casual straight line run...the Duke hit 140 :) Cruising at 120- I think with the screaming engine, and the roaring exhaust being nearly under your butt means you will be hearing it all the time- I feel it gets irritating on touring. The CBR will be much relaxed in comparison- of course the windblast will be there at 120, but much lesser hitting than the KTM. An aftermarket screen on the CBR (too expensive right now) will change things to a great extent.

In the end Doc knows it better ;)

If you think this comparo is great, wait till you read Overdrive's comparo of the same in this month's(April) issue.

PS: No offence intended towards Mr Dongre, who would definitely write better than the Motorbeam guy.

Not necessary, even though the engine can you cant.. i.e. in the case of duke.. you would love to 120 for long on the r15 but it is not the same on the duke..
even though the duke produces more power but due to the wind blast and sound you yourself will back out..

Haven't ridden at speed but i don't think that the blast might be too much.. i.e. one can do 120 without problem for long (then again i haven't ridden so i might be wrong)
the zma/r was a bit better at this is what i have heard.. never got to rip one beyond 100.. but at 80 i dint even feel it was doing anywhere close to it..

If a mfr gives a redline at a certain rpm for say 11,000 rpm...does that mean you can ride at 10000 rpm all the time? I would say thats stress!

well it depends on the red line as well.. in case the red line in low, due to good torque you might be able to it do most of it, most of the time..
If a bike redlines high then usually the bike feels stressed and out of breath..

Al redlines on our present bikes start before 2000 rpm towards the end- be it low torque or high torque.....days of the CBR250RR are long gone ;)

I dint meant the difference between the redline and the max revs, i meant low revving bike.. If something revs till 8-8.5k revs then doing 7.5k constant shouldn't be a problem for ir..

well i said 7.5k, not 8k, though that doesn't make a lot of difference but still.. Then i guess something even more less revving like the rocket 3 might not, again this is a might..
