Lovely ride there doc and fantastic pics. Leela seems to have become your favourite grub place it seems :D . Missing riding right now. Hope to be back on saddle soon.

Parimal

Missing riding, or eating there? :P

For me, I'd have to say that it would be a bit of a hard choice :D

Wowie doc, you're all over the place ! Do the fuel station guys offer you discounts, for being a frequent flyer ? :D

Unfortunately, no.

Those are emus ( the tall dark leggy chicks wearing only feathers ), not to be confused with emos ;)
Did you eat any ? :D

The boat guy kept referring to them as Emos, anyways once I saw them just off the road I knew immediately what they were. Look, see, but no touch, let alone eat :)

Much has changed doc - same bag, same place, same rider .....er carried on a new bike :)
Hope that 5 years hence will it be a CB1000R , parked alongside a similarly high displacement bike (mine! ) - others are welcome to join me (in hoping that is, plan your own finances to make it a reality :D )

Your bike,  best of luck with it, but mine, NO. For this sort of twisties the 250 is enough. On the real fun roads you don't even hit triple digits, and you have to keep dropping speed to 40 for the blind corners. Bigger, not always better. On these roads, in fact, a lot worse.

As for the fish biting, given that you're writing this trip log, I asusme nothing serious. I'd be a bit more wary though, been watching "River Monsters" episodes recently ! :yuck: the kind of fish there are , some in India , makes my think mother nature really wants us to die !

Yeah, I watch that too. remember, the kids wouldn't be in if there were any. And I did ask the boat guy before getting into the water whether there were crocs or anything dangerous to watch out for. Nil. No intention of getting into a situation where I come out with missing parts.

Unfortunately there was some small issue on the ghats on the way back. Traffic was being diverted  via some main district road towards Mahad instead of being allowed up Kashedi ghat and Poladpur. Maybe an accident? Whatever. So traffic bounced along till it was allowed to rejoin NH17 somewhere near Mahad. It was still light when another landmark came up on the odo some distance before Wadkhal naka.

This is the indicated distance, ever since the sprocket change at about 8000km the indicated distance has been about 8% less than the actual, which would be something like 26500. Traffic at Wadkhal was light, no indication about the horrible traffic ahead all the way till the point where the Uran road joins Palm beach road. Sort of a cold turkey withdrawal from the fun ride.

Home finally, the GPS includes the distance covered boating too.

BTW, a few things in case you are planning to visit the same tented village. (Mahabaleshwar Agro.)

Book in advance, if it is a weekend trip.
Order your food in the morning - the fish are caught then and if anything else needs to be purchased from the market, it HAS to be done in the morning. The market timings are 7am to 2 pm.
ONLY BSNL. No other network

Doc, I still can't get over the thought that you clicked so many pics- the most unbelievable being you clicking your feet on the hammock ;) BTW you shouldn't be misleading people about the feathered gals- specially when one is checking posts on a mobile phone and then the pics take ages to load :D

BTW please do give us your review on the MRF Revz as well as the Battlax.

EDIT: What's the distance error on the CBR compared to the GPS? On my last ride, the CBR consistently showed less kms compared to the P220 despite we both starting off from same points.
LIFE IS TOO SHORT FOR TRAFFIC

Tyre reviews - once it's time to change them. Besides, they have not been run in the wet. Tyres behave differently at different times in their life cycle, a good example being the M45 3 x18 used on the front rim.

If there are no sprocketing changes, the speedo on this is almost dead accurate. Less than 0.5% error as compared to the GPS.

Absolutely fantastic log there. Loved reading. Vintage doc writing style. The pretty images came as the rare icing on the cake :)
