Lets start of with a low note so as to make it more affordable... trying to bring in brands would be capital incentive as well as a little more than we can probably chew now!

-Some more merchanidse
Backpacks with Helmet holders
Dog Tags
Hydration bags

*Low only in terms of cost, not quality... rest am sure enough that we are super concious about quality!

If so, Then i guess most of the ppl would be having a fair bit of riding gear already..!! Coz since its readily available and a bit cheap..ppl tend to buy that only..!

If, we can bring in some branded stuff(as per order of-course) then more ppl mite be interested..

^Inder, lets do it this way for now... taking safety to the real masses.... we have seen the impact of mandating a riding gear, lets take it to the next level in helping all get affordable accesories. Once the money starts flowing in, we can venture on to branded alternatives too!

PS: Amit, I badly need a second pair of knee guards... do we have something in the store that I can beta test :), ofcourse I will pay for it!

We has sources to procure this stuff cheap. But we dont have any inventory yet. We would want to have a proper brainstorming session about what we want to do and how, before we present it to the members. may I get back to you on knee pads in a day?

I second that. Most people doesn't know that the safety doesn't just lie in the head in case of bikes. And since we're just starting, it'd be a safe bet to start with something Indian, cheap priced with good quality to know the feel and get to know how to make it better and more efficient in the future. Just my opinion, that's all. :)

Any way we can send a link of what we want in USA?

Order thru motoroids, pay motoroids, have it shipped to some common address in mainland USA, get it all shipped here as a large consignment on a monthly basis. After that, regular distribution channels.

You'd have to pay duty which will have to be calculated. Somebody will have to look into that aspect, but i don't think it is insurmountable.
You may have to put up a ready reckoner as to what category attracts how much duty.
Somebody has to co ordinate this in USA (essentially, collect it and dump into one box and ship)

Pluses

Branded stuff, bought on sale (or ebay USA) can be realy really cheap even taking duty, and shared shipping costs into account
It's bonafide branded stuff
You dont have to set up a store of your own
You can get anything!!! Need not just be 3 or 4 items as you'd have to if you set up a store
No quality issues
Nobody needs to hunt for "mules"
LEGAL

This would be lovely if implemented. The only issue could be to find that someone in US of A who can do the shipping.

I have a friend who can do it once or twice, but more than that, i doubt it.

That  idea is great Arnob, but there is a major problem. The customs guys dont let things pass before you serve them their share, which is a lesser problem. In the process of releasing your goods, they make you run from post to pole, for which you need a dedicated guy, and in some cases they just don't release the stuff. Rash (Rohit) has suffered enough, being an importer earlier - a reason why he quit the business. Moreover, it's difficult for us to achieve branded imports knowing the kind of capital we have. Maybe once we have stronger cash flows, we can put it in place

While customs is something I cannot comment on, there is no financial outlay.

Bookings will be made only once fully paid up/member can do the booking himself. Process of getting the stuff here starts only once balance is paid up - to motoroids here. It would just be a lot easier if there is somebody with an US credit card, here or in the US.

On second thoughts, yes.. probably money should not be all that big an issue. Let us start it, we will do it on an experimental basis for sure. Allow about 10 days for us to have a basic online system in place.

PS: a Indian Citibank card also helps... you can ship to Borderlinx, (they will suplly your own US address) and they can combine and send you a single shipment after taking care of all the duties etc.

Tracking articles is a pain in the process you suggested, what if something goes missing!

Maybe it will need a bit of legwork to meet some courier guys too. There are various rates depending on volume, speed of delivery,, etc - AND THEY KNOW HOW NOT TO GET STUCK.

I'm not talking Fedex DHL or other associated chors who charge gram for gram as much as a first class air passenger, but the smaller players.
