Hey...lets share the hot spots you may have taken ur set of two wheels to..share the names of places and the experience and the recommended time to go there..

This is now a compilation of all the worth seeing places around Mumbai with reference to real unbiassed-non-sugar-coated- review about the place!

Ajanta and ellora caves :good during anytime of the year. can visit lonar crater too.. ::1 ::
Bhandardhara : great fun during monsoons.
Malshej Ghats: most preferably, monsoons..approx 140 km.. ::1::
Shivneri Fort: Anytime except summers...150.5 km from my doorstep ;-) ... :D ::1::

Alibag approx 110kms
Ganpatipule
Diveagar
Harne
Velneshwar
Guhagar
Kelwa - 120KMs
Palghar - 70KMs
Daman - dont know exactly
Silvassa - should be around 150kms..
Harihareshwar - approx 210kms... ::1::
Srivardhan - approx 210kms...
Anjarle - approx 250kms
Kelshi - approx 250kms
Hedvi - ::1::
Ashtavinayak - ::1::

Murud-janjira fort : fort inside the sea.. good fun all time
Rajmachi: offroading all time fun
Lonavala: Any time fun ride
Harishchandragad: Good place for overnight camping and treks. Located immediately after Malshej Ghats. Hunt for a good 'fuel-theft free' parking though. :D

Mahabaleshwar : Most sought after hill station for MumbIKERs ::1:: ::2::
Logahad fort: good for camping and trek.. can ride the bikes till the foot of the fort :P fun during winters
Lavasa: great twisties, and kayaking :) good all time ::1::; ::2::
Jawhar : zero traffic beautiful roads.. good during monsoons




And just a stone throw away from Mumbai (tied to a super rocket ofcourse!)
Goa: fultoo fun all the time :D
North Karnataka - Badami, Aihole, Pattadkal and Mahakoota : ::1::
Rann of kutch : escape from monsoons and great fun with wild asses around

I have been to the following places

1) Malshej Ghats: it is fun to go during ne time of the year...but most preferably, monsoons...during the dry spells...so that you can beat the fog.. :P
2) Shivneri Fort: do not go here during summers, u will end up being fried... :D
3) Alibag: no comments. uy can go whenever u feel like
4) Lonavala: U shudve been there during the 1st MotoMeet. :D

up north

Konkan beaches : ganpatipule, divegar, harne, velneshwar, guhagar, around ratnagiri, malwan any time of the year

Murud-janjira fort : fort inside the sea.. good fun all time

yep! it will be very useful indeed.. i was thinking of the same thing :)

will keep the first post of this thread updated whenever a new log/place comes up so that it will be easier for anyone to refer :D

It would be better if the distance from mumbai is added to each of the locations..

Some list from my side..
Beaches missed -
Harihareshwar - approx 160kms
Srivardhan - approx 160kms
Anjarle - approx 250kms
Kelshi - approx 250kms
Hedvi - approx 200kms

Towards Gujarat -
Kelwa - 120kms
Palghar - dont know exactly
Daman - dont know exactly
Silvassa - should be around 150kms..

Ashtavinayak (8 Ganapati idols)

very informative thread. great initiative shrey. Mapping the destinations from Mumbai would make it even more useful

We mostly plan out trips as per available time unless we have been planing to go to a particular destination for a long time.

Perhaps organising it as "how many hours out" calculated on a non stop basis ex dadar may be more helpful.
