Arnob Gupta, the man who has single-handedly changed the definition of endurance touring in the country, and is by far the toughest documented long distance rider in the country has decided to gun for another record. This time he wants to traverse the Kashmir to Kaniyakumari route in the fastest time ever. His mission begins sometime in June and he plans to shatter the current record by more than a day. Knowing him, we are sure that he'll do it unless he comes across unforeseen circumstances which slow him down. Let's cheer for the Doc! More information on the record run is available here

OMG! This is some crazy thing!
PS: Amit the article appears a bit like an invitation for people to join (I guess it was supposed to be for sponsors!)

PS: Which Bike :) - I hope this has got nothing to do (if its a solo thing) with the NEW bike thingy!

I heard someone else is trying a similar record. These are people from Chennai, who want to do this on SBKs. They told me this on Motoroids FB page. All the best to them too

Amit, .. great initiative .. with the invitation for sponsorship.. let's hope some big players pool in the $$$. On the other hand, it might be pretty handy if some big oil companies were approached directly for this. Arn has a great track record of feats.. large companies who want to take an opportunity to advertise themselves will barely want to turn him down IMO..

Yes, that was the purpose behind the publicity... if the ride can collect something for motoroids, given the large following that it already has, it would be nice!

Nice Work Done!!

What Off road tires are you Using?
The Petronas Urania is a Diesel engine oil. Any specific reason to choose it?
Have you gone for New P220 chain sprocket 14T-36?

Another outing to Rajmachi to see what pressure  the tyres like.  About 18/19, the bike no longer feels as if it is on dirt, just bumpy tarmac. More than 22, some skittishness sets in.

Seat felt comfy even over the nice roads to Rajmachi. Something more on the "done" list.

@Prabhakar: Sprocket is 37T. Tyres - moto D 3.00 x 18 and 100/90 Meteor. Most diesel oils can be used in petrol engines, they have much better detergent properties and shear resistance. I'd rather use a full synth oil, but they ALL vaporize at high rpm in this engine leaving oil levels dangerously low at the end of just 1500km. Was looking for Devac MX, not available, hence the CI4 Urania.

Bike at the garage. Looking at a 15K bill to make it fully fit for the trip.
Engine, brake, gearbox, swingarm, cone set, carb, fork, electrical O/H.
Basically, the works.

I start on what will be like a new bike.
