This is a user review for the TVS Chain Spray that was recently(relatively) introduced in the market.

I have used several chain lubricants; SAE 90 Oil, Motul Chain Lube, the OKS Chain Spray and the Paras Chain Spray used at many Probiking centers but found the Paras Spray and OKS to be the best.

Of all my bikes, the R15 probably consumes or needs more attention as far as Chain Lube is concerned. The last few weeks had caused havoc with the chain as the chain was squeaking louder than a battalion of a thousand hungry mice. Add to that the typical rust and grime.

The 220 is much better at managing the lube but extremely bad at keeping it within. A spray lube results in a dirty rear wheel with splatter almost everywhere.

I happened to buy the TVS Chain Spray as a pure alternative to the Motul Chain Spray (not available at that time) and OKS (Dealer not known).
The Chain Spray retails for Rs. 295 in a spray bottle weighing 375 gm and contains 500 ml of lubricant.

Both the R15 and the 220 got the chain lube treatment and I found the performance to be good even after riding the bikes in rain and mud. The lube did not wear off like the Motul Chain Lube. The splatter is less and the lube feels at par with OKS and the Paras Spray.

My Verdict: Worth a buy...especially if you ride a lot. At Rs. 295, its a bargain.

+1
TVS Chain spray also comes in a small bottle which is very handy for those who tour or do a lot of rain riding.
Its cheap, and yet its as good as any other product (if not better) out there

It would be wonderful if we could have some pictures of the product, and some tips on how to use it. BTW, nice to see the DIY section taking off! :)

@Revmaster: I have a step by step tutorial that is hosted at picassa. The product used in the tutorial is the Motul Chain Cleaner and the Motul Chain Lube. The process remains the same even though the product changes.

Check the link below.

Picasa Web Albums - Niranjan - Chain Clean

Shall try to upload some pics of the product.

Wow, this is real cool. I think putting these pics along with captions in the wiki post would help a great deal. I'll have to look into the possibility of allowing images to be hosted on Motoroids so that we dont have to be dependent on external services for images. Meanwhile, you can embed the pics through your picasa album and caption them

Thanks for the review. Had seen this spray sometime back at a friend's accessory shop here in Kolkata. The smaller can costs Rs.100/- and is really handy. Btw i like the OKS spray over the Motul chain spray(horribly priced), lasts quite long(comparitively). Will use and revert back about the TVS spray.

Tried the TVS chain spray once. But with the kind of rains that kolkata received in the last week, it didnt even last 3 days :first: .

BTW does anyone know if the OKS chain spray is available commercially or not. Kolkata PBK is currently using this and it is definetly VFM stuff and seems to last longer than Motul. It is currently not available in my city, so have to make do with Motul.

Last week bought a chain spray for my friend's P220. Its made by TIDC costing 100 bucks. He hasn't used it yet- so cannot comment how good it is.

Planning to pick up the TVS chain lube as my motul is almost over! Let's see how it works here, now that the rains have subsided! ;)
