Petrol pumps to go on strike from Sept 20

All the fuel bunkers across India are supposed to go on a strike, come 20th Sep.

As a precautionary measure, would urge fellow petrol-heads to tank up by 19th or earlier as they may run dry due to surplus demand.

So, can we expect a fuel price hike after the strike?

The government always keeps cribbing about the subsidies, and how the oil companies are suffering losses. IMO the losses suffered are not because of the price, but the incompetent sarkari-style officers who still control these organization and their wasteful ways. I am sure being still dependent on the oil ministry for their 'subsidies' these companies must be diverting substantial chunk of their earnings in offerings to our disrespected ministers.
I have been to many countries, and the fuel prices really don't differ that much. If private players in foreign countries can provide fuel at comparable prices, why do these buggers keep crying 24x7.
The LPG / CNG stations not functioning will bring all metros to a complete standstill with buses. autos and taxis not plying. The very thought of the situation in a city like Mumbai scares me. Hope an amicable solution is reached. In case the demand of the pump owners is accepted, be prepared to shell out at least Rs 2 more for every litre of petrol.

Today's newspaper carried a snippet about the strike being called off.
Reported, meetings were in progress & some amicable decision would be reached.
