Bajaj Auto Inaugurates Manufacturing Plant in Manaus, Brazil

Bajaj Auto, a leading manufacturer of 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers, has expanded its global presence with the inauguration of a new manufacturing plant in Manaus, Brazil. The ceremony, held on June 25th, 2024, was attended by dignitaries, dealers, and business partners. This marks a significant milestone for Bajaj Auto, solidifying its position as a major player in the global motorcycle market.

Strengthening Global Footprint

The new plant in Manaus strengthens Bajaj Auto’s global reach. With this addition, Bajaj Auto vehicles are now sold in a total of 100 countries, further solidifying the company’s reputation as the “World’s Favourite Indian.”

Building Local Capabilities

Located strategically in Manaus, the new plant boasts a production area of 9,600 square meters and features cutting-edge technology. Equipped with advanced engine assembly, vehicle assembly, and testing facilities, the plant has a production capacity of 20,000 units per year on a single-shift basis. This location offers advantages such as fiscal benefits provided by the state and proximity to supply chains and transportation hubs.

State-of-the-Art Manufacturing

The Manaus plant incorporates automated production lines and integrated quality control systems for efficient and high-quality production. The facility utilizes the Protheus ERP system to streamline operations across various departments. Initially, the plant will focus on manufacturing Dominar models, with plans to expand to Pulsar models in the future.

Commitment to Quality and Speed

Construction of the plant began in June 2023 and was completed within a year, showcasing Bajaj Auto’s commitment to swift execution. The plant has already achieved ISO certification for its production processes, demonstrating its dedication to quality. Additionally, Bajaj do Brasil has successfully integrated local suppliers within Manaus for key motorcycle parts and components.

Looking Ahead

Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto Ltd., expressed his enthusiasm at the inauguration ceremony. He highlighted the importance of the new plant in fulfilling local demand and building a wider distribution network. The plant signifies Bajaj Auto’s commitment to the Brazilian market and its integration into the local automotive industry. Plans are in place to expand the facility’s production capacity to 50,000 units per year in the future.
