BMW S 1000 R Gets New Updates

BMW has updated the S 1000 R for the 2022 model year. The updated performance bike gets new features and a new color scheme. Though the bike has only been revealed for the international markets, for now, we expect it to make it to our shores as well in the coming months. Expect a minor price hike for the updated S 1000 R.

The tech updates on the BMW S 1000 R Premium Package include an RDC or real-time tyre pressure monitoring system. It also enables the rider to turn off the comfort turn indicators or self-cancelling indicators with the instrument cluster. The BMW S 1000 R  update has the same engine as before. A 999cc, in-line four-cylinder engine of this superbike delivers 165 hp at 11,000 rpm and 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm. Other details include a Multi-disc oil bath (anti-hopping) with self-reinforcement and a  Synchromesh six-speed gearbox.

The updated colour scheme comes with a Black Storm Metalic shade with white ‘S 1000 R’ lettering on the tank. While for the premium package, BMW provides Bluestone Metallic and Black Storm colours. These new shades will replace the ongoing colour scheme, which offered a Racing Red shade and  Hockenheim Silver Metallic paint for the premium version. Although the colour scheme for  M Motorsport is still the same as before, with Light White base paint and Light Blue, Dark Blue, and Red coloured details.

The S 1000 R comes with an Upside-down telescopic fork, spring preload and adjustable rebound and compression stage in the front wheel and Aluminum swingarm, central shock absorber, adjustable rebound and compression damping and adjustable spring preload at the rear. It also has full LED lighting, Three ride Modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, incl. HSC), Six-axis sensors with ABS Pro & DTC, a TFT display with connectivity and an Adjustable handlebar position. Currently, the standard version of  S 1000 R comes with a price tag of Rs 18.30 lakh, while the Pro M sport version comes at Rs 22.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). But with the minor updates, the new version of the BMW S 1000 R is expected to have a price increase. With the latest updates, the BMW S 1000 R will compete with rivals like Ducati Streetfighter V4 and the Aprilia Tuono V4
