Maserati’s GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello Celebrates Innovation and Tradition

Maserati and Marchesi Antinori, two Italian powerhouses steeped in tradition and innovation, have collaborated to create a truly unique masterpiece: the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello. This bespoke electric convertible is a tribute to Tignanello, a pioneering red wine celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello embodies the shared values of innovation, tradition, and craftsmanship that define both Maserati and Marchesi Antinori. This unique car, created through Maserati’s Fuoriserie customization program, will be auctioned at the Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala on July 14th, with proceeds benefiting charity.

Where Wine Meets Wheels

The car’s design draws inspiration from the Tignanello vineyard itself. The “Terra di Tignanello” paint, a rich chestnut hue, reflects the vineyard’s soil, while coppery burgundy accents echo the barrels used for aging the wine. Black matte rims and glossy black calipers provide a touch of modern elegance.

Interior Innovation Meets Artisan Details

The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello’s seats boast a unique multi-material weave – a combination of silver and burgundy made from Vegea, an innovative plant-based leather derived from vineyards. This material, used for the first time in Maserati, evokes the rows of vines on the Tignanello hill.

Dark briar wood panels with laser-etched details reminiscent of oak barrels further enhance the interior’s sophistication. The headrests feature a special embroidery, combining the Maserati Trident with Tignanello’s iconic sun symbol. The central tunnel is laser-etched with the dates 1971-2021, marking the first and current vintages of Tignanello.

Klaus Busse, Maserati Head of Design: “This collaboration epitomizes the essence of Bespoke production, allowing us to create a truly unique driving experience that mirrors the exceptional quality of a great wine.”

Piero Antinori: “A never-ending challenge, the constant pursuit of improvement – these values resonate with Maserati, another symbol of Italian excellence. This one-of-a-kind car, inspired by Tignanello’s 50th anniversary, fills our family with immense pride.”

Performance and Technology

As Maserati’s first 100% electric convertible, The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello boasts performance with an 800V battery system inspired by Formula E technology. The luxurious interior offers four comfortable seats, a neck warmer for open-air cruising in cooler weather, and a wind stopper for a peaceful ride.

A Celebration of Heritage and a Look to the Future

The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello is a fusion of tradition and innovation. It marks a significant moment for Maserati, showcasing its commitment to electric mobility while staying true to its heritage of creating luxurious and exhilarating automobiles.
