MG Windsor PRO EV Gets Off to a Flying Start
The MG Windsor PRO has had a busy first 24 hours. JSW MG Motor India confirmed that the newly launched electric crossover raked in 8,000 bookings on Day 1. As expected, the introductory ex-showroom price of ₹17.49 lakh is now a thing of the past — the new tag reads ₹18.09 lakh.
For those looking to save upfront, the BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) option still exists. The base BaaS variant starts at ₹13.09 lakh (ex-showroom), with a pay-per-use battery subscription of ₹4.5/km.

What’s Under the Hood?
The Windsor PRO is powered by a 52.9 kWh battery, an upgrade from the outgoing model. MG claims a certified range of 449 km, which puts it in a strong spot against urban EV contenders. It produces 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque — fairly sprightly numbers for a city runabout.
It also comes with Level 2 ADAS, packing in 12 features including lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. New features like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging add more versatility. A powered tailgate has also joined the list of convenience features.
Visually, the Windsor PRO gets three new colour options — Celadon Blue, Aurora Silver, and Glaze Red — which help differentiate it from the outgoing model.
How Does It Stack Up?
In its price bracket, the Windsor PRO takes on the likes of the Tata Nexon EV LR, Mahindra XUV400 EL Pro, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. While the Tata has the sales charts on its side, and Mahindra boasts performance, the Windsor PRO tries to bridge both with a feature-packed experience.
MG also offers a few firsts in this segment, especially with its BaaS model, which could appeal to fleet owners or low-mileage urban users.
Final Thoughts
8000 bookings in a day is no joke — clearly, someone at MG’s office is popping celebratory soda. But now that the price has jumped, it’ll be interesting to see if the momentum sticks. Still, credit where it’s due — the Windsor PRO seems to have found the sweet spot between affordability, tech, and range. Let’s just hope that “PRO” doesn’t start standing for “Price Rises Often”.
