Volkswagen Announces Autofest Exchange Carnival and Rebrands Used Car Business

Volkswagen India has kicked off its Autofest Mega Exchange Carnival 2024, offering customers a chance to upgrade to a new Volkswagen with attractive deals and benefits, valid from July 3rd to 20th. This initiative coincides with the strategic rebranding of their used car business from “Das WeltAuto” to “Volkswagen Certified Pre-Owned,” aligning with the brand’s global approach.

This limited-time event allows customers to trade in their existing car for a new Volkswagen and enjoy enticing offers. The move aims to boost customer interest in purchasing new Volkswagen models while ensuring strong residual value for their current vehicles.

The rebranding of the used car business leverages the established trust associated with the Volkswagen brand name. It emphasizes providing high-quality, certified pre-owned vehicles backed by comprehensive inspections and warranty coverage.

This strategic move comes at an opportune time. The pre-owned car market in India is experiencing significant growth, with consumers seeking aspirational vehicles at accessible price points. Volkswagen’s used car business has witnessed a tenfold volume increase in the last five years, highlighting the growing demand.

Expansion Plans

Volkswagen India currently operates 139 touchpoints for certified pre-owned cars, including 36 exclusive outlets. They plan to expand this network further by March 2025 to cater to the growing demand in tier 2 towns and across the country.

The recent Indian Blue Book report reinforces Volkswagen’s commitment to strong residual values. It established Taigun’s value retention at over 81% after two years, offering customers peace of mind regarding resale performance.

Mr. Gupta elaborated on the rebranding, stating, “We’ve announced the strategic rebranding of our used car business to ‘Volkswagen Certified Pre-Owned’ and launched the first rebranded store in Coimbatore. This aligns with our global positioning and emphasizes the trust associated with the Volkswagen brand. It allows us to better serve the growing demand for high-quality, certified pre-owned cars.”

“We’ve seen strong demand in the first half of 2024, and expect it to continue through the festive season,” he added.
